ROBBINS, Lansden B., merchant; born West Fork, Overton Co., Tenn., Jan. 12, 1863; Scotch-Irish descent; son of James and Lean (Smith) ROBBINS; father’s occupation farmer; paternal grandfather John ROBBINS; paternal grandmother Martha (Coleman) ROBBINS, maternal grandfather John SMITH, maternal grandmother Hannah (McDonald) SMITH; educated public schools of Pickett Co. and Oak Hill and Alpine Academy, Overton Co.; when very young entered employ of J. H. Hatcher & Son at Eagle Creek as a clerk and remained with that firm for 10 years; married Viola GROCE Nov. 26, 1899; member of F. and A. M., member of Evening Star chapter of Royal Arch Masons at Livingston, Tenn.; elected County Surveyor of Pickett Co. in 1888, re-elected in 1892; appointed Clerk and Master of Chancery court of Pickett Co. in 1899 and re-appointed in 1905; purchased interest in Otto Mercantile Co. at Byrdstown in 1899 and has been operating the business since; is president of the Pickett County Bank and Trust Co., and has been since its organization in 1904.
