PEOPLES, Richard Grier, educator; born near Columbia, Tenn., March 8, 1869; son of James H.  and Margaret (Douglass) PEOPLES; father’s occupation, Minister of the Gospel; paternal grandfather, Richard PEOPLES, maternal grandmother was a Miss HARRIS prior to her marriage, maternal grandparents, Alex and Jennie (Simonton) DOUGLASS; educated at Webb School, Culleoka, Tenn.; graduated from Erskine College, Due West, S. C., B. A. June 7, 1886; entered educational work in early life; married Alla CLARY, Nov. 28, 1900; Independent Democrat; member of Methodist Church; Principal of Boys’ Preparatory School, Franklin, Tenn.
