OAKLEY, William Monroe, Superintendent Tenn., Odd Fellows Home; born Grant, Smith Co., Tenn., Dec. 9, 1859; English descent; son of William and Louiza (Gill) OAKLEY; father’s occupation farmer; received common school education; worked on farm until he was twenty-one, then entered the mercantile business at Grant, Tenn., entered business at Lebanon, Tenn., in 1886; continued in mercantile business until 1903 when he was elected Superintendent of Odd Fellows Home of Tenn., which position he now holds; married Willie E. DILLARD Dec. 12, 1889; member I. O. O. F., Knights of Pythias and Woodmen of the World; Democrat (Fusionist); former Postmaster at Grant, Tenn., 1881-1885; member of the Church of Christ.
