LEWINTHAL, Isadore, rabbi born in Germany, October 17, 1849; son of Rabbi Solomon LEWINTHAL; educated in Germany and graduated at Berlin; took special studies in divinity and became a Jewish rabbi, 1873; married Estelle BLOCK, August 6, 1879; was Rabbi of San Antonio, Tex., 1879-88, and has been in Nashville since that time; member of Central Conference of American Rabbis, Southern Rabbinical Association; author “Scriptural Questions,” also contributor of articles to numerous magazines and newspaper.
