KING, Mark Colman, banker and financier; born Murphy, N. C., Nov. 10, 1879; son of Mark Colman and Mary C. (Baker) KING; father’s occupation, pharmacist; paternal grandparents Johnson Washington and Nancy Aveline (Colman) KING, maternal grandparents John Jacob and Rebecca (Lowery) BAKER; educated in the high schools of Murphy, N. C.; began life as a pharmacist, later was a miner; engaged in the mercantile business in 1900, sold out in 1905; entered the banking business in 1908, and is now vice-president First National Bank, Copperhill, Tenn., president First National Bank, Ducktown, Tenn., president Peoples’ Bank and Trust Co., Blue Ridge Ga., president Peoples’ Bank, Etowah, Tenn., president Home Light and Power Co., Copperhill, Tenn., president Ducktown Land and Improvement Co., president King Lumber Co., Copperhill, Tenn., president Etowah Lumber Co., Etowah, Tenn.; married Esther A. BRYAN in 1897; member Knights of Pythias and F. and A. M.; Democrat; member Methodist church.
