Horticultural Soc.; member various State Horticultural Societies, American Pomological Soc., American Breeders Assn.; author of bulletins of experiment stations and department of agriculture; frequent contributor to Agriculture and Horticulture press; Prof. of Horticulture and Forestry, S. D., Agricultural College, 1887-91; University of Mo., 1891-95, assistant chief forestry division U. S. Dept. of Agriculture 1895-99; Prof. of Agricultural College, 1899; Prof. of Horticulture University of Tenn., since 1900.
