JONES, William V., farmer and merchant; born near Del Rio, Tenn., May 9, 1866; French English descent; son of Marvel M. and Susan E. (Woodson) JONES;  father’s occupation, farmer; paternal grandparents  Russell and Sarah (Hays) JONES; maternal grandparents, Mathew and Mary (Pyrom) WOODSON; educated in the local schools of Weaverville, N. C., and Parrottsville, Tenn.; began life as a clerk in a store, later traveling salesman, at present engaged in the mercantile, lumbering and farming industries; married Sarah E. (Fox) March 28, 1899; Democrat; justice of peace and notary public; formerly Chairman of the County Court, member of County board of Education; member Methodist Episcopal church, South.
