Volunteer Regiment May 16, 1861 to surrender, 1865; wounded three times in Confederate army of Northern Virginia; chief surgeon General Staff, 1875-6-7, with rank of Major; decorated by Egyptian government, Egyptian army officer, Order of Mejedirh; wounded and captured by Abyssinians in battle of Gourah in 1876; member of Episcopal Church.
