HARNED, Perry L., Public Official; born Montgomery Co., Tenn., Nov. 16, 1866; son of Enos and Mary (Allman) HARNED; educated public schools and University of Tenn.; took a special course University of Tenn., 1892; in early life was a farmer; later became a teacher; member of State Board of Education 10 years; Superintendent of Public Instruction Montgomery Co., Tenn., 16 years; Superintendent of Clarksville City Schools three years; former president of the State Teachers’ Association, former president State Public School Officers’ Association, former president of Middle Tennessee Educational Association; at present is secretary and treasurer of State Teachers’ and State Public School Officers’ Associations; also interested in farming and is director of First Trust and Savings Bank, Clarksville, Tenn.; is high school inspector State of Tennessee; married Myra G. MCKAY 1894; member F. and A. M., I. O. O. F., and K. P.; elder First Presbyterian church, Clarksville, Tenn.
