GRAY, John Moffitt, Jr., merchant-manufacturer; born Gallatin, Tenn., June 29, 1869; English descent; son of John M. and Elvira Dale (Pillow) GRAY; father, merchant and farmer; paternal grandparents Ben and Martha (Morse) GRAY; maternal grandparents Jerome B. and Elvira (Dale) PILLOW; he is a descendant of Sir Thomas DALE, Dolly MADISON, and Gideon PILLOW; graduated from Montgomery-Bell Academy, Nashville, Tenn., 1887; engaged in the wholesale hardware business early in life; married Reba Franklin WILSON, April 21, 1897; is now Vice-President of Gray & Dudley Hardware Company and Director in American National Bank, Wilson Lumber & Land Company, Tennessee Rapid Transit Company, Odeon Amusement Company, Nashville Industrial Bureau; member of the Royal Arcanum, Hermitage Club, Nashville Golf and Country Club, being organizer and first President of last named club.
