GODDARD, Andrew, born in Knox County, Nov. 30, 1846; son of John and Martha (Johnson) GODDARD; father’s occupation miller and farmer; Dutch-Irish descent; received Public School education; married Luzena SHAW, Jan. 1, 1872; member I.O.O.F., A.O.U.W. and G.A.R.; served as private in Company H, 2nd Tenn. Calvary; immediately after war went to Indiana and in 1873 went to Nebraska, being one of the pioneers of the plains; came to Tennessee in 1890; early in life engaged in farming;  published Maryville Times for 20 years, but now retired; member of the M.E. Church.
