GIDDENS, Robert M.

GIDDENS, Robert M. — minister of the Gospel; born Trimble Co., Ky., Feb 23, 1845; Scotch-Irish descent; son of Abner J. and Mary A. (Bain) GIDDENS; educated at Bible College, Lexington, Ky., and graduated from same June, 1872; later took a post graduate course in languages and history in Ghent College, Ghent, Ky.; honorary degree of M.A. conferred upon him by Christian University, Canton, Mo., in 1888; in early life engaged in teaching and farming; is a member of Christian church (Disciples of Christ); was converted at the age of 20 and planned and organized the Tennessee Christian Missionary Society; Prohibition Democrat.
