FARRAR, Frederic Emerson, composer and teacher of voice, piano and composition; born Haverhill, Mass., June 25, 1864; English, Scotch and Welsh descent; son of Joseph Emerson and Emily Linsay (Pond) FARRAR; father, retired shoe manufacturer; paternal grandparents Kimball and Almira (Emerson) FARRAR, maternal grandparents James Sullivan and Hannah (Linsay) POND) /sic/; educated Boston, Mass., Munich, Germany, and Milan, Italy; married Mary WEBER May 25, 1892; he studied abroad for a number of years, coming to Nashville in 1891; he is the composer of some 300 musical pieces for voice, piano and string instruments, about 75 of which have been published and are well known throughout the United States.
