EMERSON, John William, railway mail clerk; born Manchester, Tenn.; Nov. 19, 1866; son of Frank W. and Susie (Emerson) EMERSON; English descent; father’s occupation tailor; educated Manchester College; graduated from same June 1884; married Ida B. RAMSEY Jan. 18, 1893; member I. O. O. F.; F. & A. M. Master Mason; early business career printing, typesetting; appointed in railway mail service in 1891, in which he is still engaged; owned and edited Manchester Times for past six years; postal clerk for 19 years.
