This entry contains some incorrect information.
Thomas was born in Buncombe County, North Carolina. While Thomas Dedman or Deadman may have been his grandfather, Susannah went by Tatum. Susannah died around 1822 possibly in Rowan County, North Carolina. Stephen then married Catherine Hendricks. By 1830 they had moved to Blunt County, Tennessee and by 1840 they had moved on to Cocke County, Tn. Thomas married and settled in Cocke County where he died in 1911.
We don’t know when Stephen died. In 1860 Catherine was settled in Sevier County, Tennessee along with Thomas’ half brothers and sisters.
Thank you Sandie for the additional information. We transcribe as the information appears in the book, but it is always good to have additional input for corrections such as yours. Thanks!
