BYARS, Ezelle S., insurance man, born in Haywood Co., Tenn., Sept. 25, 1867; Irish-Dutch descent; son of Wesley S. and Nancy A. (Smith) BYARS; father was minister of the gospel; educated Southern Baptist University at Jackson, Tenn.,  and graduated from same June 1895, with degree of B. S.; in early manhood engaged in school teaching; married Beatrice BOOTH, May 27, 1897; Secretary for eight years of Masonic Lodge No. 351; Democrat; was Recorder of Dyer Co., Tenn., for six years; declined re-election; member of the County Court, Gibson Co.; Clerk and Deacon of Missionary Baptist Church; taught school six years at Maury City, Tenn.; retired to enter the insurance business at Dyer, Tenn., 1898.
