(Tucker) BOWEN; father’s occupation, planter; paternal grandparents A.M. and Catherine Rent (Poston) BOWEN, maternal grandparents Jeremiah and Abagail (Clifton) TUCKER; received common school education; in early life was a farmer; married Mary Elyza TUCKER, Jan. 19, 1880; member DeSoto Lodge No. 299, F. & A.M., Past Master of said Lodge; Democrat; election commissioner of Shelby Co., Tenn., 1903-1907; was for a number of years chairman of the endowment committee of Masonic Widows’ and Orphans’ Home; was instrumental in creating more election booths in city of Memphis, Tenn.; member of First Baptist church, Memphis, Tenn.
