BOAZ, William Thomas, minister of the Gospel; born Graves County, Kentucky, January 7, 1875; son of Thomas F. and Virginia (Puryear) BOAZ; Irish and French descent; educated West Kentucky College, Mayfield, Ky., and Georgia Roberson Christian College of Henderson, Tenn.; married Effie JONES, January 1, 1900; one of the founders of the Tennessee Orphan Home, located at Columbia, and President of same, and in charge of work of First Christian Church; farmer boy in early life; entered ministry when twenty years of age and has held charges in Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois; founded Tennessee Orphans’ Home in 1909.
