GOODLOE, Hallum Wood, Secretary of State; born Haywood (now Crockett) County), Tenn., June 8, 1869; son Caswell A. and Sallie (Wood) GOODLOE; educated Public Schools and Thompson’s Classical Institute at Alamo, Tenn., and University of Tennessee, Knoxville; married Mary Tarbell DAWSON June 18, 1902; Knights Templar Mason, Elk, Shriner; Democrat; Clerk of Chancery Court of Crockett County; appointed September 14, 1891; resigned March, 1901, to accept position of Chief Clerk under Captain John W. MORTON, Secretary of State; resigned September 3, 1907, to make race for Secretary of State, and was elected, by the General Assembly January 19, 1909, by receiving unanimous vote; entered on discharge of his duties February 13, 1909, for the term of four years.
