Will of Charles PARKER


I, Charles Parker of the County of Weakley and State of Tennessee being of sound mind and disposing memory do make and publish this as my last will and testament and hereby revoking and annulling all other wills by me made at any time and dispose of my property in the following manner to wit:

Item first. I give and bequeath to my three sons Frances M Parker, Thomas I. Parker and Zechery E. Parker my land in Weakley County and state of Tennessee as near equal as possible said land being about one hundred and eighty one acres.

Item second. I direct my executor to sell all my personal property and after paying my just debts to divide the proceeds with my four daughters Adaline Parker, Rebecca Jane McNatt, Elizabeth Cashon and Sarah Roberts equally after adding the amount to each they have already had from me to wit, Rebecca Jane McNatt one yoke of oxen and money to make up the worth of a horse a cow and bed all worth one hundred twenty five dollars, Elizabeth Cashon one horse cow and bed also worth one hundred twenty five dollars and Sarah Roberts has had only a cow and bed worth thirty seven dollars.

Item third. I value my land given to my three sons as about to be worth fourteen hundred and fifty eight dollars.  I direct that my sons Frances M. Thomas I., and Zechery E. Parker before either of them become absolute owners of my land, shall pay an ammount sufficient to make their sisters equal with themselves, it being my desire to deal to deal just with my children.

Item fourth. I direct that it is my desire that the county of Weakley appoint a suitable executor to this, my last will and testament.

  In witness of the above I hereby set my hand and seal the 11th day of October, 1865.
