S. MORRIS
Will of Robert S. MORRIS, deceased
I, Robert S. MORRIS of the county of
Weakley
and State of Tennessee, do make this my last will and testament, I
leave
all my property, real and personal, in the hands of my wife, Cate
MORRIS,
as Executrix and my son George MORRIS as Executor, having full
confidence
in their management and integrity, I leave it in their care without
exacting
of them security with the following directions. I wish the
property
kept together and the farm managed according to their best judgment,
and
if any of the negroes disobey, I wish them sold and others purchased to
fill their places, the proceeds of the farm I wish used to support my
wife and children, and to educate my
children.
Should there be a surplus, I wish it used in purchasing of property,
land
or negroes as their better judgment may dictate during the lifetime or
widowhood of my
wife Cate MORRIS. Should she
marry,
I wish the property divided according to the laws of Tennessee.
The
property of my children I wish kept together and divided as they may
marry
or become of age by the
following named commissioners, george W.
MORRIS,
John B. MORRIS, Thomas O. MORRIS, Nathaniel MURPHEY and Peter W.
MATT.
I desire the above commissioners to divide and assign to my wife Cate
MORRIS.
Should she marry, her part of the estate , real and personal, according
to the laws of Tennessee, and to each of my children as they become of
age or marry. In witness, I Robert S. MORRIS have set my hand and
affixed my seal the 26th day March 1860.
