Recorded 16th August, 1831 State of Tennessee
In the name of God Amen. --Tho being
under
much affliction of body yet believing myself to be in my right
mind.
Think proper to make this my last will and testament for the purpose of
disposing of my read and personal property in the way I think best for
the benefit of my surviving family and in the first place wish to
bequeath
my soul unto God who gave it and secondly do give and bequeath unto my
beloved wife Polly all my possessions of land with house and plantation
whereon Neal DELANEY now lives with
Furthermore I give unto my wife Polly all and every article of my househlod and kitchen furniture also one axe, one hoe, one plow and set of Geers, one grubbing hoe, one cow and calf, one colt, also one fifty doallr note that my brother Neal DELANEY owes me due first of April next, two sows, thirty shoats, thirty barrels of corn and all the fodder. I have also cotton for family use, six hundred pounds of pork at killing time to have and to hold during her natural life time. Also say that present crop of cotton shall be appropriated to the use of paying I. H. Moran my account for the present year and if any cotton left, it put to the use of buying salt and such articles as my family shall need for the pursuant year, also all the rest of my effects wither in property cash or notes so manged by my executors as to pay all of my just debts accordingly to contract and so much of the rest of said money detained in the hands of my Executors as shall be sufficient to clear my land out of the office whenver the same is opened and the balance if any so managed by my executors as it shall be put to the use of my family at any time when they need also for the purpose of schooling my children also do certify that as my la! wful Executors for the purpose of executing this my last will and testament given under my hand this 25th October 1830.
