WILL OF JEFFERSON ROGERS (in possession of the family)
I Jefferson Rogers of the County of Weakley and the State of Tenn being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory do on this Twenty first day of May, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty Four make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following….

First it is my will that all my just and lawful debts and funeral expenses be paid, and if there should not be a sufficient( )  due to my estate to do so,  it is my will that executors here after named shall sell such property of my estate that  they may think can be best spared to satisfy said debts and receipts….due of my property shall not be divided among my wife and children until My son Benjamin A. L. Rogers arrive to the age of twenty one or my wife
should marry, then in either case it is my will that my property shall be equally divided among them each one drawing one third part of my estate. My wife with my two children which I gave to them and their heirs forever. If my wife should be dissatisfied to live on the plantation whereon I now live, It is my will that the land should be sold and my wife shall have one third of the proceeds at her own disposal to do as she please with ------------------It is also my will that my wife shall have all the profits of my estate untill thetime approved for a division for the purpose raising .......... and clothing my children.   I nominate ( water stains blot out words) my friend Joseph M.B. Allen as --------- my wife Mary Rogers executors of this my last will and testament
 
Ratifying an(unable to make out several words here) and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament signed in the presence of us who are present at the time of signing and sealing the same.
