| He was born 1809 in Robertson County, Tn., son of John and Patience
Whitehead Gardner. He founded Gardner's Station, Tn, later just Gardner,
about one mile from Martin, Tn. He was a well known lawyer and politician
and gave the famous
July 4, 1876 speech about the founding of Weakley county. He married
#1 Ritty Maria Terrell and #2 Agnes H. Cowardin. About 1887, he accompanied
his sons by his 2nd marriage to Texas and died in Gainesville in 1892.
He was my gg- grandfather.
