Beulah, Lela, Mattie and Ina were the daughters of Robert A. RICHEE and Mary “Molly” RICHEE/BOOTHE.  There were also five sons, Alton, Jodie, Carl, Calvin, and Robert.  The RICHEE family lived near Gleason, Weakley County, Tennessee where all the children were born.  It is interesting that each of the daughters married in the month of December.

Beulah RICHEE was my grandmother and was born on 13 Sep 1885.  She married my grandfather, Oscar Lee FARMER on 18 Dec 1904.  Oscar died in 1925 leaving Beulah with a mortgaged farm and two young boys, Alton and Basil.  The People’s Bank of Martin soon foreclosed on the farm forcing them from the farm.  A neighbor, Lee GARNER, took them in until they could find other arrangements.  On 9 May 1926 Beulah married George Wester SMITH who had become a widower in 1924.  George died in 1936.  Later Beulah married Phillip Harvey DOZIER on 20 Dec 1942.  Beulah died on 25 Jan 1969 and is buried with her first husband in East Side Cemetery in Martin.

Lela RICHEE was born 9 Apr 1879 and was known as “Sister”.  She married William MEDLOCK on 25 Dec 1907.  Lela and William were farmers, and yes, they raised potatoes as is common in the Gleason area.  Lela died 21 Mar 1973 and is buried with her husband in Mount Zion Cemetery in Weakley County.

Mattie RICHEE was born 5 Dec 1880.  She first married Tillman J. WRAY on 27 Dec 1899.  Tillman died a young man in 1911.  Mattie second married James P. HASKINS.  She later moved to Oklahoma, dieing there on 20 May 1953 and is buried in Enid, Oklahoma.

Ina was born on 29 May 1883 and married Edward SAWYERS on 15 Dec 1904.  Ina died on 20 May 1953 and is buried with her husband in Mount Zion Cemetery in Weakley County.
