George Washington Horton 1833-1896. George's father was John Horton who was one of the first magistrates in Weakley County. John Horton is mentioned in Col Gardner's Speech. George Washington Horton was a 1st Lieutenant in the 13th Arkansas Infantry, CSA, during the War. He stayed in Weakley County until 1873 when he lost his father, mother, wife, and child, all within one year. George then moved to Arkansas and started over. John had a great many Horton children and I am sure some of their descendants are still in the area today. Submitted by his 2nd Great Grandson, Lee Horton
