Confederate Reunion 1922

1922 Weakley County Confederate Reunion
The Dresden Enterprise of November 3, 1922

Old Confeds Have Big Day
Ladies Serve Dinner, Band Plays "Dixie" and Good Cheer Predominates

The October (1922) reunion of the ex-confederate soldiers of Weakley County, held in Dresden, will go down in history and linger long in the memory of these old battle scarred veterans as the most enjoyable ever held by them.

The number attending was 34, and the oldest man present was Joe COVINGTON, of Dresden, aged 90 years. His record is that he has never in all these 90 years shirked a duty nor scratched a democratic ticket.
The exercises were opened with roll call Adjt. D. J. BOWDEN, following by prayer by Rev. L. W. TRAVIS.
Then a most appropriate welcome address by Mr. Jas. H. MORAN, president of the Dresden Bank. Rev. S. L. JEWELL, pastor of the Dresden Methodist Church, delivered an address that sank deep in the heart of every person present.

Messrs J. M. GLASS of Sharon and D. J. BOWDEN of Martin were elected delegates to the next confederate reunion with W. J. ALLEN and B. T. BONDURANT as alternates. Mrs. EWING delivered a pretty little speech to her old friends, with most of whom she was personally acquainted.
