McCLAIN, Lee Roy - Lee Roy McClain (born Dec 12,
1895 Died
July 7, 1972) purchased a farm in Weakley County, Tennessee about 7
miles
from Palmersville, Tennesee after the end of World War I.
He
was in the US Army in World War I and served in France. Lee Roy McClain
was the son of George W. McClain born March 18, 1858 and died March 25,
1947. Lee Roy McClain and his wife Chiron Edwin Williams
McClain
are buried in the Zion Hill Church of Christ cemetary about 2 miles
from
the family farm and about 5 miles from Palmersville TN (church building
has been torn down but cemetary remains.) by Gene Clouse. |

Herbert & Earnest The Dresden Enterprise December 20, 1918 Ruthville Column The death of Corp. Herbert E. LAMB, son of our neighbor, G. J. LAMB which came officially from Washington to Mr. LAMB on Saturday, a week ago, and on Monday following, another message came to Mr. LAMB, that another son, Private Earnest A. LAMB, had died in France of pneumonia. Herbert was killed in action. These two noble boys held the confidence and best wishes of all our people, but Alas! they sleep in a far away land, while the hearts of the father and mother are left bleeding. They have the deep, heart felt sympathy of everyone. Herbert was killed in action November 9 while Ernest died October 5. Serg or Corp Herbert Eugene Lamb died 9 November 1918 in France killed in action Pvt Earnest Almary Lamb died 5 Oct 1918 in France of pneumonia Herbert LAMB is Killed in Action The family of Mr. Jeff LAMB, residing near Mt. Moriah church, in the 17th district, has just received official notification from the government of the death of their son. Serg. Herbert LAMB, who was killed in action in France. The date if the young man's death was not given, but it is presumed it occurred during the last hard fighting in which a great number of the Tennessee boys took part. The dear, bereaved family have the profound sympathy of a host of admiring friends. They were finally brought home and had a double funeral at Mt.
