Stella taught there during the early 1920’s, and these were her photos. She had a deep passion for teaching, and placed great emphasis on learning at a time in history when it wasn’t a priority in this part of the country. She passed away in 1996 at the age of 93. I’m sure if she were alive today she could name each and every student. Unfortunately, the family doesn’t know the names of the students. I thought it would be nice to share these in the hopes that someone might be able to recognize at least a few of the children. The first photo had written on it 3rd grade, Shafter School, Greenfield, TN and I couldn’t tell if the date was 1922 or 1923. The second one was labeled Shafter School, Greenfield, TN 1923. I hope everyone will enjoy these nice additions to the school collection.
