Old MOSELEY Cem - Robert
Moseley owned much of the land around here in early days - but also
called Old Hall Cemetery today because across the street to the south,
is where the Old Masonic Hall was with a couple commerical buildings
before Greenfield was made into a town in 1873-4. There are just
a few Moseley and Shannon tombstones here but both were prominent
pioneer families of Greenfield area. The day we took these photos
- there was a man mowing the grass of this pretty little cemetery -
turned out to be the Greenfield Chief of Police, Danny Harris, on his
day off - now that is a true Tennessee Volunteer! Thanks
Chief! - MaryCarol There is another MOSELEY family cemetery hidden in the trees, going east on Meridian Rd towards Meridian Church, that still has burials today |
