Laneview School
before 1890 - 1914

Before 1890 Laneview School was organized, and a one room house was built on the Old Troy Rd (now Hwy 79) about 1/2 mile east of the New Salem Church.  This building burned and a two room school was built.  Some of the first students were from the families of SUMMERS, WASH, DUKE, PARHAM, FINNEY, LACKEY, KILLEBREW, BROOKS, MOOM and others.  Some of the teachers were Etta KILLGORE, Chalie OGAN, Mr. CASTLEMAN, Bill ESTES, and B. W. BRUCE.  In 1914 the school was discontinued and a new school was built at New Salem across from the New Salem Church . This new shcool consolidated both Laneview and Cloverdale schools.
