HALL CEMETERY
Hall Cemetery is located on Parker Levee Rd. just off of Old
Troy Rd. The founder was James H. Hall born 1801 in Halifax County,
Va., died 1855 in Weakley Co., so the cemetery dates from 1855. It was
on the farm he owned. He also was pastor of Pleasant Hill Church,
founded 1838, located on Old Troy Rd., which is not far from his home
place and cemetery. This cemetery was cared for very well up until the early 1980s (probably) or until Bert Milner died. His parents were the youngest graves in the cemetery. Since then, no one took care of it until 2 years ago when Harry Stubblefield and I paid to have it cleaned up, with hopes of being able to continue the care for some time. Sorry to say, I was a big dud in trying to find other descendants who might be willing to help. There do not seem to be any Hall descendants in Weakley who are interested in family history. That is just a fact, not a condemnation. Anyway, Mother Nature will once again claim this large cemetery, I fear. When I first saw the cemetery. It was fenced and completely clear of trees and underbrush. All stones looked to be in good shape, too. Submitted by Grace Upshaw |
