| The Gardner Hotel was built about 1870 on Gardner Road
near Academy
Drive. The picture was made from a "tintype" that was taken in
1882.
The hotel was built by Isaac Smith for John Almus Gardner, Jr..
The
sign at the front was for the "Southern Express Company".
