Exchanged 23 Sept.1862. Paroled at the end of the war as a Sergeant. He took the Oath to the U.S., 10 June 1865. He then joined the Fourteenth Tennessee Cavalry as a scout, and held the rank of lieutenant. He was at Perryville, Shiloh, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge and others. Vernon, Ebenezer R., b. 3/10/1848; NS Cheatham's Div.  Asst.Surg.; Vernon, E.R. TN 4th Inf.  Asst.Surg.; He enlisted in the Seventh Regiment Texas Infantry, and was assigned to duty as assistant surgeon in this regiment. At the battle of Fort Donelson he was captured, but was retained at Clarksville to assist in caring for the sick and wounded. He afterward made his escape and rejoined the army at Shiloh. There he received a commission from the Confederate States Government as assistant surgeon, Confederate States Army, and was assigned to duty with the Fourth Regiment Tennessee Infantry, where he remained until the close of the war, with the exception of a few months in hospital service in Lagrange, Ga., Chattanooga, Tenn., and Montgomery, Ala. Walker, Adolphus Ferdinand, b. 4/6/1838; Co. A, 8th Missouri Infantry (CSA) show that Adolphus mustered in 20 Sept. 1862 in Washington County, Arkansas for a period of 3 years or the duration of the war. The rolls show that he was appointed 4th Corporal on 22 Sept. 1862. Soon after he was transferred to Company G. The muster rolls state that Adolphus was 6 feet tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. At the end of the war, the 8th Missouri was under the command of General Edmund Kirby-Smith. This army was the last Confederate unit to surrender, doing so at New Orleans on 26 May 1865. Adolphus was still with his unit at that time and was paroled at Alexandria, Louisiana 7 June 1865. Tradition states that Adolphus walked back to Barry County after his parole, eating nuts and berries to survive. (Parents; Henry F. and Cynthia Ferguson Walker)

Co.A; In 1861 he enlisted in Company A, Fourth Tennessee Infantry, and was in the battles of Belmont, Shiloh, Chattanooga, Missionary Ridge, Chickamauga, Perryville, Munfordville, Dalton and other minor engagements, and was captured just after the battle of Atlanta and taken to Camp Chase, Ohio. Bradford's).  b. 28 April 1840; d. 1906. buried  Liberty Rd.,  Greenfield, Weakley Co., Tn.   David T.  was the son of  David Winston  (b. 01 Jan 1801 d. 20 Aug. 1848)  and Candice Jeter.  First post master  in  Winston Springs, Weakley Co., Tn., opened  19 May 1836 .  He served  12 years  until his death in 1848.   Post office closed  in  1872.   David Winston was the brother  of  James Winston.; (Parents; David and Candace Jeter Winston)

Witt, Caleb Jasper, b. 10/12/1839; TN 12th Inf. Co.H; Witt, C.J. TN 12th (Cons.) Inf. Co.K ; In 1861 volunteered in Company H, Twelfth Tennessee Infantry, Confederate States Army, and served faithfully throughout the war. At the battle of Shiloh he was struck in the breast with a grape-shot, tearing away a part of the left lung. After about twelve months' suffering he recovered somewhat and joined the cavalry, but was given many privileges. Wrinkle, Iverson M., b. 1840; TN 21st (Wilson's) Cav. Co.F  Sgt.; In 1863 he entered the army as one of the "boys in gray," by enlisting in Company F, Twenty-first Tennessee Cavalry, under Gen. He was killed in the Battle of Perryville, KY on Oct. 8, 1862. He was stationed in Bollingreen, Ky in January 1862. Wright, John E., b. 1/29/1838; Enlisted in the Confederate service, and in 1863 was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant He was a faithful soldier for four years and was twice severely wounded; once at Shiloh and once at Missionary Ridge. Wynns, William G., b. 1844; TN 20th Cav.; In September, 1864, he enlisted in the Confederate Army, under Capt. William Hawkins, in Forrest's cavalry, and was wounded near Columbia, Tenn. Yeargin, George W., b. 1841; MO 1st Inf. Co.K,G  1st Lt.  ; In 1861 joined Company K, First Missouri, or Bowen's regiment, and was chosen second lieutenant. He was afterward transferred to Company G, and was elected first lieutenant. A few days after the battle of Shiloh he was taken sick, and was cared for at Memphis until within a few days of the fight at that place. Younger, William Armistead, b. 11/2/1839; Enlisted as a soldier of the Confederate Army in June 1861 in A.P Hills company made up about Huntingdon and McLemoresville, and put in 22nd regiment at Trenton. Was at the battle of Shiloh and all the battles and skirmishes his brigade and division were in up to the time he was taken prisoner at the battle of Missionary Ridge. The 22nd Reg. was consolidated with the 12th and retained the number 12th. The 47th was also thrown with them. Died of bilious fever at Rock Island prison Ill. Pvt. William A. [Armistead]Younger of the 12th Tenn., Co. G., was captured at Missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863. He arrived at Rock Island Prison barracks on December 9, 1863 and was assigned to barrack 30. He died on June 21, 1864 of Acute Gastritis and his grave number is 1262, located in the Confederate Cemetery. "
