Nance, William Thomas, b. 2/1/1842; TN 46th Inf. Co.B; November 24, 1861, he enlisted in Company D, Forty-sixth Tennessee Infantry, and participated in many of the principal battles. At Island No. 10 his regiment was captured but he escaped and returned home, where he remained a short time. His command was in the rear of Grant when he took Vicksburg, and was in many battles opposing Sherman's march toward Atlanta. He was in the bloody battle of Franklin, and while at Nashville was taken prisoner and conveyed to Ohio, remained there till February, 1865, when he was discharged, and soon after returned home.; (Parents;  William F. and Elizabeth Hill Nance)

Naylor, Henry H., b. 11/25/1841; NS Forrest's Scouts T. Henderson's Co.,CSA; At the breaking out of the war he joined the first Mississippi Cavalry, Confederate States Army, for eighteen months, and was then transferred to Capt. Henderson's scouts, serving in this command until the close of the war. He participated in the battles of Shiloh, Corinth, Vicksburg and Jackson, besides many other battles and skirmishes of less note. He served three years and nine months and was paroled at Gainesville, Ala., May 12, 1865.
 
Neal, Thomas W., b. 4/11/1835; AR 9th Inf. Co.D  Ord.Sgt  ; In the summer of 1861 enlisted in the Ninth Regiment Arkansas Infantry, but in the winter of 1863 was honorably discharged for disability.(Parents; Richard P. and Caroline Buck Neal)
 
Neill, Warren F., b. 5/28/1841; TN 51st Inf. Co.F; In 1862 he volunteered his services in Company F, Fifty-first Tennessee Confederate Infantry. At the battle of Stone River he was detailed to care for the wounded, and while on duty was captured, and, after being retained at the hospital about three months, was taken to Camp Butler, Ill., where he was held a prisoner about four months. Norman, Henry Thomas, b. 7/15/1843; Company A, Seventh Kentucky Infantry, under Captain Pirtle, Wickliffe colonel commanding. He took part in the battles of Shiloh, Franklin, bombardment of Vicksburg, Harrisburg and Okolona. After eighteen months' service he was transferred to cavalry, when the regiment became the 8th Kentucky. He was
under Gen. Forrest in the battles of Johnsonville, Nashville, second Franklin and in numerous skirmishes. He fought fourteen days in succession, and surrendered in April 1865.

Ogburn, Richard H., b. 3/1840; In June, 1861, he went to Mississippi, and during the same year joined Company A, First Kentucky Cavalry, Confederate Army, and at the end of one year's service was mustered out, after which, owing to ill health, he did not rejoin the ranks.; (Parents;  John and Mary Ann Caroline Hunt Ogburn)

Oldham, Martin Van Buren, b. 11/28/1840; Co. G 9th TN Inf.; saw action at the Battle of Perryville, where he was wounded and taken prisoner. He served three months as a prisoner in both Camp Dent, Kentucky and Camp Douglas, Illinois. Following his exchange he rejoined his unit and was again wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga. After three months of recuperation he returned to his unit to assist in the Confederate defense of Georgia. On October 17, 1864, the war finally came to an end for him as he took the Oath of Allegiance at Nashville. Orrell, Robert Aaron, Sr., b. 3/30/1836; Co E, 4th Battalion, AR Infantry. Enlisted 7 Nov 1861 at Little Rock for 12 months by Col F. A. Terry. Captured at Salvicy, KY 15 Oct 1862. Parker, Nelson Franklin, b. abt. 1843; Nelson and Mary (Green) Parker, the former, a native of Sumner County, Tenn., born in November 8, 1809. He was twice married. His first wife, Cynthia C. Whiteside, died January 1, 1846; of her children two, Isaac L. and James P., are living, and two deceased, viz.: Nelson Franklin, who joined Forrest's command late during the war between the States. The battle of Harrisburg was his first engagement, soon after which he, with a squad of other Confederates, was sent to Lamar, Miss., to cut the Illinois Central Railroad at that point. While in that act he was mortally wounded, and died four days afterward and was buried at that place. (Parents; Nelson and Mary Green Parker)

Penn, William Clinton, b. 7/24/1828; TN 6th Inf. Co.H Capt. ; In 1861 enlisted in the Sixth (Confederate) Tennessee Regiment, and was honored with a captain's commission. After the battle of Shiloh he entered the cavalry service to do scout duty. He participated at Hatchie River, where he received four gun-shot and four saber wounds and was captured by the enemy. He was paroled and confined in Northern prisons and was exchanged in April, 1863, and during the rest of the war was with Gen. Forrest. Perry, Alexander Monroe, b. 1825; Co. F 7th Tennessee Cavalry Regiment (known as Bennett�s Battalion) Enlisted at Newbern, Dyer County, Tennessee in 1863. He rode a bay horse. Alexander was paroled with the 21st/22nd Combined Tennessee Cavalry at Gainesville, Alabama in May 1865. He was listed as a corporal in Co. Perry, Daniel Jackson, b. 4/14/1822; Co. A, Blythe's Battalion, State Troops of Mississippi; Enlisted (September 26, 1864) for the period of one year. He was assigned to take care of the ferry across the Coldwater River. This later became Perry's Ferry.

Pinson, Thadeus Jenkins, b. abt. 1823; 20th TN Cavalry Co. E; Enlisted September 17, 1863 at Paris, TN, by Capt. Bomer for 3 years. Sorrell horse valued at $800. Present on roll for Mar/April 1864. Absent on roll for May/June 1864, "Wounded on 1 July 64 sent to Hospital". Wounded "severely back" at Tishomingo Creek". On Sept. 17, 1863, when about 40 years old, he was signed up for Russell's cavalry by 1st Corp. Reuben Bomer in Paris, TN, for a three-year enlistment. In the July 4, 1864, report of casualties in Maj. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest's command, T.J. Pinson is listed as a casualty of the battle of Tishomingo Creek (Brice's Cross Roads) on June 10 and 11. The remarks on the service record card say "wounded severely back." Family tradition says he was wounded by a cannister ball, was taken to a hospital and died when smallpox settled in the wound.
