Dalby, Dick H., b. 2/8/1840; August 21, 1861, he enlisted in Company G, Ninth Tennessee Infantry, and served nearly four years. He was kept a prisoner of war at Camp Morton for seven months. Danner, Leonidas G., b. 8/18/1845; AL 5th Inf. New Co.E; AL Mil. 4th Vol. Co.F; In 1862 he enlisted in Company E, Fifth Regiment Alabama Confederate Infantry, serving, first as private, and later was detailed as a sharp-shooter, under Gen. Davidson, Abner Lee, b. 6/19/1839; Davidson, A.L. TN 31st Inf. Co.E; In 1861 volunteered in Confederate Infantry, but, after serving about eleven months, was taken sick, and returned home.; (Parents; Ephraim Allen and Lucretia Stovall Davidson)

Davidson, John Calvin, b.9/13/1842; Gibson County; Enlisted December 20, 1861 in Gibson County in Caruthers' Battery, Heavy Artillery. He was present on muster rolls from July 1862 to October 1862. He is listed as "sick in camp" November & December 1862. Listed as present January & February 1863. According to the Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers who Served in Organizations from Tennessee (Memphis Public Library): he was captured & paroled at Vicksburg, Mississippi July 4, 1863 as a member of Company L, 1st Tennessee Heavy Artillery (Andrew Jackson's Regiment). Andrew Jackson was actually Rachel's nephew and President Andrew Jackson adopted him and named him Andrew, Jr. Answered Questionaire; (Parents; Unknown)

Davis, Samuel, b. 10/6/1842; TN 1st (Feild's) Inf. Co.I ; Sam Davis was found guilty of spying by a drumhead court martial and was sentenced to hang on November 27, 1863. On the eve of his execution Sam wrote a final letter to his Mother saying,"I HAVE GOT TO DIE TOMORROW MORNING. MOTHER, I DO NOT HATE TO DIE". The last officer to solicit Sam's betrayal did so on the gallows at Pulaski. He received from Sam Davis the famous reply - "I AM BUT A PRIVATE SOLDIER IN THE CONFEDERATE ARMY. THE MAN WHO GAVE ME THIS INFORMATION IS WORTH TEN THOUSAND MORE TO THE CONFEDERATE CAUSE THAN I, AND I WOULD SOONER DIE A THOUSAND DEATHS BEFORE I WOULD BETRAY A FRIEND OR BE FALSE TO DUTY". Dawson, William Azariah, b. 1822; TN 15th (Stewart's) Cav.  Lt.Col.; When the war broke out, he organized a company in the Twenty-second Tennessee Confederate Regiment, and was elected captain. He fought at Belmont, and at Shiloh was wounded three times - had his little finger shot off, and was shot in both the shoulder and the head. After the reorganization of the army, he came home and raised a company for the Fourteenth Regiment of Cavalry, and was elected colonel of the regiment. He was a dauntless soldier, fought in many hot skirmishes, and finally, in a skirmish near Columbia, Tenn., he was shot dead. (Parents; Unknown)

Dew, Arthur T. b. 3/23/1844; 20th TN Cavalry (CSA) Company I. Enlisted December 1, 1863 at Newburn, TN, by Col. Bell for 3 years. Black horse valued at $800. Present on roll for Mar/April 1864. Present on roll for May/June 1864. Wounded at Harrisburg. On roll of prisoners surrendered at Citronelle, AL, May 4, 1865. Residence Eaton TN. "Arthur T. Dew was born in Wilson County, Tenn., March 23, 1844; but his parents removed to Weakley County, near Dresden, while he was a child, and there he grew to manhood. He entered the Conf. army in 1863 as a member or Co. I, 20th Tenn. Cav., Bell's Brigade, under Forrest, and served to the close of the war, surrendering at Gainsville, Ala. He was a splendid soldier. The day before the battle of Harrisburg he was left behind with a sick horse, but he procured another mount and joined the command that night and participated in the battle next day, in which he was slightly wounded. After the war he married and settled near Sharon, Tenn., where he died on June 4, 1911. He was a brother of Col. R. J. Dew, of Trenton, Tenn." On 1870 Census Weakley Co. Dunlap, William Newton Lafayette, b. 10/5/1843; Dunlap, W.N.L. TN 47th Inf. Co.G Cpl.; At the age of eighteen enlisted in the Confederate Service in Company G, Forty-seventh Regiment, Tennessee Infantry, but after its reorganization it was known as the Twelfth Regiment. He was wounded at Murfreesboro, and unfitted for service for about one year. He was at Missionary Ridge, the Georgia Campaign, and was wounded at Franklin. Edmundson, John Burgin, b. 8/28/1839; Co. H, 47th TN Inf.; He had voted against secession in two succesive referendums in Tennessee. He refused to be conscripted. Seven times the Conscription Squads came after him and seven times he slipped away and returned home. Eventually he was offered the opportunity to volunteer as a medical corpsman. He agreed and enlisted in Company H, 47th Tennessee Infranty Regiment, CSA, on December 3, 1861 at Kenton, Gibson County, Tennessee. In his capacity as a surgeons aid he was devoted and skillful and was soon helping to suture and dress wounds. Became a doctor after the war.; (Parents; Michael Isreal and Matilda Burgin Edmundson)

In December of 1862, the group was consolidated with the 31st Regiment but only after participating and losing many men during the Battle of Shiloh (Pittsburg Landing) that occurred on 6 and 7 April 1862. Erwin, Sidney Louis, b. 1845; GA Phillips' Legion Co.C; Enlisted 2/1/1863, Captured 4/6/1865 at Sailors Creek and imprisoned at Point Lookout until released 6/26/1865, Oath shows him to be 5'6&1/2" with auburn hair and blue eyes. Younger brother of John M Erwin, Sid would die in a gunfight in 1880 at McAlester, Oklahoma; (Parents; William Glen & Martha McCrary Erwin)

Erwin, Sterling Brewer, b. 5/22/1842; Co. E, 12th Tennessee Infantry; Co. B, 7th Kentucky Infantry; Co. C, 12th Kentucky Cavalry; Although the Kentucky Adjutant General's Report shows him listed as a member of Co. L, 3rd Kentucky Infantry Regiment, he never actually served in that command. He enlisted as a private in Co., E, 12th Tennessee Infantry, which later became Co. L, 3rd Kentucky Infantry. He however; transferred out of that regiment on the 22nd of October 1861, to Co. B, 7th Kentucky Infantry. Co. L, 3rd Kentucky Infantry did not come into existance until after the Battle of Shiloh in May 1862. Later in 1863, Sterling became a Sergeant in Co. Etheridge, William Fletcher, b. 5/16/1839; 2nd Sgt. in (2d) Company G, 5 TN Inf.; Enlisted in the Confederate Tenn Infantry on May 20, 1861, the day the 5th Regiment of the Tn Infantry was organized for State service. Fletcher mustered into Capt. John H. Long�s Company, 5th Regiment Tn Volunteers at Camp Brown in Obion Co Tn as a Private on August 9, 1861. On May 26,1862 he was promoted to 2nd Sergeant in (2d) Company G, 5 Regiment Tn Infantry. Records of Muster Rolls show that he was present for duty in Paris, Tn; Columbus, Ky and in Shelbyville Tn. Fletcher Etheridge was wounded 3 times during the Civil War. He lost sight in one eye as a result of his service in the war but this wound was not documented in his service records, however, one of the incidents in which he was injured is well documented by a permanent marker along the highway in Mansfield near Paris Tn: Skirmish at Mansfield In the month of March, 1864, Company G, Seventh Regiment Tn Cavalry, was detailed to escort Tennessee's Governor Isham Green Harris to his home in Paris. Near Mansfield they encountered a detachment of Federal soldiers and a spirited engagement took Place. The Federal force retired with two killed including their major in command. Company G had two men wounded, thought to be William Fletcher Etheridge and a man named Stubblefield. (Parents; Unknown)

Evans, Samuel Taylor, b. 1/9/1847;  VA Horse Arty. G.W. Brown's Co.; In 1861 he joined Pelham's battery of Stuart's horse artillery, with which he served until after the battle Fredericksburg, Va. (Where he was severely wounded), when he was made special courier of  Gen. R. E. Lee, and served in this capacity until the close of the war. Ewell, Philip K., b. 9/6/1823; Ewell, P.K. TN 47th Inf. Co.K 2nd Lt.; He enlisted in the Forty-seventh Tennessee Regiment, Col. M. R. Hill commanding, serving until the cessation of hostilities. Ewing, Charles M., b. 1842; Co. C, 1st Regiment, TN Inf.; Participated in the battles of Perryville, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Atlanta, the Dalton Campaign, Franklin, Nashville and numerous severe skirmishes.
