Hannah H. (Davis) Caudle tombstone.
note:
There are no naturally occuring rocks in Weakley County suitable
for carving into tombstones. (Weakley only has some very soft sandstone
and some gravel, which lie in deep veins.) Very few tombstones
are known to exist in Weakley County prior to the arrival of the railroads
in the early 1870s ... the few stones that can be found prior to the 1870s,
are usually very thin small stones. Since William's and Hannah's
stones seem to be a matched pair, William's stone was probably placed at
his grave many years after his death, and was probably set close to the
time of Hannah's death.
