The old Caudle cemetery is clean but is not exactly under
a maintainance program. That cemetery is a very, very small family
burial plot (containing only 5 graves) that at present time, is in the
middle of a cow pasture, but 150 years ago was probably very near to the
home of William G. Caudle. The graves are surrounded by a small cluster
of trees, most of which are cedar trees, that protect the tombstones somewhat
from the weather. The only problem is that the area is not fenced
and cows occasionally lay in the shade of the trees and on the graves .....
a couple of the tombstones have fallen ... they were either knocked over
by the growth of tree roots or by the cattle. I have a few pictures
of the cemetery, which were taken a few years ago, by my cousin Don Tillman.
I took Don to the cemetery when he was visiting in Tennessee, and was with
him when he took the pictures. The tombstone for William G. Caudle
has been knocked over, and Don and I tried to restand it, but it was too
heavy for us to lift.
