The "Relationship" column refers to how people in are related to the "Head" of the household. A few times however, the enumerator forgot this rule. 

Key to Relationship Column

Head = Head of houshold
Dau = Daughter
SIL = Sister -in-law
BIL = Brother-in-law
MIL = Mother-in-law
FIL = Father-in-law
SonIL = Son-in-law
DauIL = Daughter-in-law
Grdau = Granddaughter
Grdson = Grandson
Hired = Hired Man/Woman

Key to Marital Status Column

M = Married
S = Single
W = Widowed
D = Divorced
 

The Birthplace of SELF - FATHER - MOTHER Column lists in what state the person was born; what state his/her father was born; and what state his/her mother was born, in that order.
