Zion Methodist Episcopal Church South

Located one mile east of the Buck Culp Cemetery, Zion Methodist Episcopal Church South was located. It was here from 1835 until 1865, then was moved about 1/2 mile up Little Beech Creek and renamed “New Zion”. Here it stayed until the consolidation with Riverside Methodist Church in October, 1961. At the Zion Methodist Episcopal Church South location is a small cemetery with twelve or fifteen graves marked with fieldstones.

Henry CULP’s first wife is buried here along with two or three children. Mrs. Henry CULP was a ROBINSON. Her parents are believed to be buried here. It is though most of these graves must be more than 100 years old. This cemetery is located to the back of the residence now occupied by Grady Riley.
