ROSE, James Edgar, Serial number 1841745, was born on August 25, 1895 in Hardin Co., TN and spent his first 24 years in Wayne Co., TN. James was the son of George W. ROSE and Hannah PRATER. On August 8, 1917, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S. Saint Louis transporting men to and from Europe. James received an honorable discharge on August 6, 1919.

On November 5, 1922, he married Ercle L. NOWLIN, the daughter of John NOWLIN and Dorothy Elizabeth HELTON. After his marriage he moved with his wife and son daughter to Lee Co., AR. Their daughter, Audrey M. ROSE SYLVESTER, was born in Tennessee, followed by Juanita ROSE WALKER, Betty Jean ROSE BISHOP, and John F. ROSE who were born in Lee Co., Arkansas.

James Edgar died on October 9, 1958 in the Memphis, TN VA hospital and was buried at the LaGrange Cemetery in LaGrange, Arkansas, along side his wife, mother and father.
