James T. (Pete) Barrett, 75                 

Altamont resident James T. (Pete) Barrett, 75, died October 28 at Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro.  A U.S. Army veteran of World war II, he was pre- ceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Edna Barrett; two brothers, Jackie and Wayne Barrett; and three sisters, Lillie Mae Darby, Rose McBain and Jean Clark.  He is survived by his wife, Mamie Hampton Barrett; two brothers, Etheridge and Ray Barrett, both of Altamont; three sons, Randel and Gerald Barrett, both of Altamont and Edwin Barrett of McMinnville; and five grandchildren.  Services were held Monday at Airview Baptist Church in Altamont with the Rev. Neal Foster and the Rev. Melvin Childers officiating.  Cumberland Funeral Home of Altamont was in charge of arrangements.
