Looking for children and information on Joseph SMITH born about 1787 in North Carolina. He married Sarah SWOR on 22 Sep 1802 in Anson Co., NC and moved to Stewart Co., TN around or before 1817. In the 1860 Stewart Co., TN census he is 73 years old and living next door to Spencer SMITH, who I believe to be my great-great grandfather. Both born Lebanon TN. Mary Ann MASSEY m.27 Dec 1837, Shelby Co. TN, Charles Grandison POLK. William Smith MASSSEY m.31 Dec 1837 Margaret Benigna POLK. Joel MASSEY (per census) b. SC. The earliest record I have found is 1812 when he was selling land in TN. He bought and sold land in Humphries Co, Stewart Co. Wilson Co., and Shelby Co. Researching STAFFORD ancestors from Tennessee. Would like to correspond with anyone who has information on the STAFFORD line. I have confirmed information only to my Great-Granfather -Caleb STAFFORD born 11/11/1858. He married Mahaley BEASLEY (Daughter of Jesse BEASLEY). Children of the marriage were: Howard, William and Herod. Caleb and family left Cato, TN (Trousdale county) in 1905-6 for Callaway county, Missouri. Caleb's death certificate shows his father and monther to be a Samuel and Elizabeth STAFFORD. I have been unable to locate any further information on these 2 people. There appears to be a link to Cane STAFFORD line, but again, I haven't been able to confirm it. Any info appreciated!

I am researching my wife's family that comes from Big Rock, Stewart County, TN. Her maternal grandfather was Edwin McGINNES (McGINNIS?) and her maternal grandmother was Daisy Jane WALKER. I am particularly interested in the Walker line. Daisy Jane WALKER was born in 1896 in Big Rock and her father was Richard Green WALKER who was born in 1870 in Big Rock. Andrew Jackson JOYCE was born in Stewart County 10-Oct-1854. His parents Elic or Alex JOYCE and Priam (?) PHILLIPS are lost. He is said to have been raised by his grandmother Martha or "Patsy" PHILLIPS. Family history seems to think Andrew may have had a sister, Sarah. Who was ENOCH DEASON RUSHING'S (BN 1820-1821) father???? Enoch Deason Rushing left Tn. (Bedford Co) about 1850 or earlier. He came to Fayette County Al. He bought land in Tuscaloosa Co. in 1852-1857. Milly Deason Rushing also came to Tuscaloosa Co about the same time. Milly was marr. to John Rushing. I have several of their children's names, but Enoch Deason was not among them. Did I miss him? I am looking for the parents of Rebecca Angeline ANDERSON, b. 21 Aug 1788, in Logan Co. KY m. 9 Aug 1806 in Stewart Co. TN to Gideon Richard FRENCH b. 15 Nov 1880 in GA. This info is taken from the French family bible (not in my possession) and gives his father as Samuel FRENCH, but not anything about her parents. There are a William and a Cornelius ANDERSON [FRENCH] listed in the Stewart Co. census for that period, but I need to know if either of these are her father, and who was her mother.
