ALLISON. ALLISON, Alexander LaFayette (Fate) b 13 Aug 1872, lived Stewart County, TN. He was a brother to my grandfather, Charles Sidney Allison of Humphreys County and I believe he lived in Dover. ANDERSON. My GGrandfather was a James ANDERSON b. 1795 in Va. Son Thomas K. born Tenn 1816 Could he have been the James ANDERSON I found in Stewart Co. TN 1820 census and Stewart Co. Tax records of 1823 thru 1836 located in Saline Creek area ? Saline Creek Baptist Church Minutes indicated he and wife Harriett joined the church in 1826. Looking for the birth year and state of the Saline Creek James ANDERSON and his wife. Location and year of death of each would help. My James Had children born in ARK from 2nd wife in 1843 and 1844. He and Thomas K. came to Dallas Co. TX about 1845. Named his last daughter Harriett in 1854. Does any of this prove that he is not the Stewart Co. James ? Many Thanks for any Info you have. ANGLIN, TURNER. Seeking any information on Drury (Drewery) ANGLIN and/or Jesse TURNER who were privates in Captain James GRAY's Company under Col. William CARROLL as volunteers from Stewart County, Tennesse in the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812. This can be found in A History of Stewart County, Tennessee. Drury is next found in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana on the 1830 census. Close by is a Larkin TURNER. The 1850 Jasper County, Texas census has Drury living in the house of Samuel TURNER. Any information on Drury ANGLIN prior to the 1812 military service is desired. The connection to TURNER particularly needed and greatly appreciated. Samuel TURNER was my great great grandfather. BELFORD. In the Stewart Coounty, Tennessee, September term 1806. William Curl, collector, reports that the following tracts of land still have unpaid taxes for 1806. Reputed owners of one of these is a William Belfourd for 640 acres at Well's creek. I'm looking for imformation on the history of this property with hopes of finding our Belford's who supposely came from North Carolina and ended up in Illinois. BENNETT, RUSSELL. I am trying to find parents for my Husband's great grandparents. Solomon S. Bennett was born abt 1826 in TN. HE married Melvina Russell in Stewart Co. TN on 20 July 1845. According to my husband's Aunt' Melvina was a daughter of a rich steel mfg. She was disowned for marrying Solomon. Supposedly her mother was full blood Indian. tribe unknown. Solomon and Melvina was on 1850 Stewart Co. Census. They later moved to Missouri where Melvina died before 1858. Again according to the aunt, Melvina was killed in Rolla Missouri by Indians for marrying a white man.??? I don't put much faith in this, since the Indians in Missouri had been removed before 1850's. Solomon later married Lucinda Culp 29 May 1858 in Cedar Co. Mo. He was a Veg. Dealer who moved back and forth between MO, and ILL. He apparently died in Montgomery Co Ill. Mary Elizabeth Steiner was the daughter of John Rufus Steiner (1876-1916) and Sarah Ellen Key (1872-1948).

My son is descended from them through their son William Riley ROBERTS and his son William Brownlow ROBERTS. HACKL. I was told recently that an uncle, PAUL E. HACKL, passed away 8/17/2001, in Dover, Stewart Co, Tenn. I did find him on the SSI Death List. The last I had heard of him, he was in Arizona. HARGIS. I have researched alot of Hargis' from Stewart County, TN. My dad is from there. My problem is that I can't find much about my great grand father. His name was Virgil Hargis. WOFFORD, HART. Sallie Jane HART,daughter of William Henry HART and Mary SIKES, married George W.WOFFORD on December 15, 1886 in Stewart County,TN. She died April 13,1963 and is buried in Wofford Cemetery. I know of the names of two children, Ernest and Farless. I believe there were more children. MCCOY-HOWARD-JOINER. McCoy - I am searching for info on the McCoy family of Stewart County, Tennessee. I am interested in finding the parents of Marion McCoy { he married Josephine Howard in Stewart County Tn in 1886 }, born 1869 and died in 1957. WILKINSON. I discovered this afternoon a Wilkinson Cemetery in Model Tennessee. It it near Jackson Holler. There are two marked graves for Rev. Austin Wilkinson died 1905, and his wife Harriett Wilkinson died 1902. In the center of the marker it says "Erected by R. F. Wilkinson hers." There is one unmarked grave which we assume to be a child. The group that cleans the cemeteries have erected a sign but listed the name as Wilkerson Cem. That mistake has plagued me all of my life.
