PHILLIPS, BURTON. 1850 Census, Stewart Co. listed PHILLIPS, Abraham (age 65)and Abraham (age 35)in 2 separate households. Q: Father & son? In the elder's household was Cullin, age 27, and Elizabeth, age 25. Q: Siblings, or husband & wife? If wife, of which male? (The household also included 2 females, age 18, and children 7 and younger.) Questions are caused by a different source listing a marriage between a PHILLIPS (reportedly "James", but there is a "Cullen" reportedly born to that marriage in 1842) and an Elizabeth BURTON, 3 Mar 1842, in Henry Co.(next door)(children's ages fit). Can you assure that these are separate families, in Stewart & Henry Counties? Have you information on the elder Abraham's siblings? In Henry Co.? SANDERS, HARRELL.
GEORGE WASHINGTON BROWN SANDERS said that he was born in Hempstead
County, Arkansas, town of Washington. Here is the story that we have heard from his son, ROMULUS. "Grandma Sanders (Magdalene) was living in Arkansas (Hempstead County) and was a widow with 4 sons when she met and married a man named EDGAR HARRELLS. They had a daughter, ANN ELIZA, and after trouble broke out between Edgar and Magdalene, Magdalene waited until
her husband went off some place, then she took a team of mules and a wagon for her plunder, put the 4 boys and her six week old daughter in the wagon and lit out for Stewart County, Tennessee, where she had two brothers living. After she arrived there, she hid out in the woods by day, and went into the house at night always fearing that her husband would hunt her down and kill her."
One of her sons, GEORGE WASHINGTON BROWN SANDERS was born in 1839, so this would have happened after 1840. He shows in Stewart County 1880 Census an Saunders on the bottom of page 300 with wife Callie. Roger Lehman;

One of her sons, GEORGE WASHINGTON BROWN SANDERS was born in 1839, so this would have happened after 1840. He shows in Stewart County 1880 Census an Saunders on the bottom of page 300 with wife Callie. Roger Lehman;
