Larkin and Ann McClain Sutton Kemp
This photo is believed to be Larkin and Ann McClain Sutton Kemp Larkin was born September 16, 1822 and died August 24, 1909, the son of Burrell Kemp, Jr. and Elizabeth
Jane Roveling. Ann McClain Sutton born October 09, 1825 and died November 06, 1906. Larkin and Ann
were married October 17, 1844. Larkin was a farmer and grist mill operator. He moved his grist mill from
place to place where he could find a steady stream of water to mill corn and wheat. They lived most of their
married life in Smith County moving to Macon County between 1870 and 1880. Both died in Macon County
and are buried in Smalling Cemetery located on Union County Road between Willete and Lafayette.

1. James "Riley" Kemp (my great grandfather) born August 16, 1845 and died November 26, 1916.
He married 1st Manetta "Mary" F. Brockett October 28, 1867 and 2nd Ellen Dora Sloan July 03, 1879.
Living and dying in Smith County.
2. Levi Kemp born February 21, 1847 and died August 03, 1867. He never married.
3. Burrell Franklin Kemp born April 26, 1849 and died March 28, 1941 in Trousdale County.
He married Mary Ann Winkler October 04, 1870. Living and dying in Trousdale County.
4. Mary Mahala "Haley" Kemp born July 19, 1851 and died December 29, 1921.
She married Americus "Mack" J. Grissom November 20, 1864. Living and dying in Macon County.
5. Matilda Ann Kemp born June 28, 1855 (no death date). She married John Dixon Kennedy, Jr.
August 11, 1870. Living and dying in Jackson County.
6. Larkin Henderson Kemp born February 14, 1859 and died February 23, 1921. He married
Sarah "Sally" Hannah Hicks March 20, 1879. Living and dying in Trousdale County.
7. Louisa Elizabeth Kemp born June 06, 1860 and died October 20, 1862. Living about two years.
8. Lucy Timander Kemp born September 08, 1865. No death date. She married John Henderson
Jones March 19, 1889. Living and dying in Macon County.
9. Minerva F. Kemp born February 14, 1870 and died June 11, 1879. Living about nine years.

Larkin was son of Burrell Kemp, Jr. and Elizabeth Jane Roveling. Both born in Wake County, NC
.
He and Elizabeth were married November 03, 1813 in Wilson County, TN and moved to Smith
County abt. 1814 living in Old Kemp Hollow #1, on Peyton's Creek near Monoville on a land
grant from North Carolina in Indian Territory.

1. William "Billy" Layton Kemp, Sr. born September,1817and died June 11 1905.
2. Asa "Acy" Kemp born December 27, 1820 and died Jan. 4, 1890.
