CARCIE & NELL McCALL KEMP FAMILY Ca. 1930
Standing before their home in Bellwood, near Lebanon, Tennessee are Carcie, Nell,
Bluford Arris, Harris Dale, and Glen Allen Kemp. The pony was Glen's. This home
remains beautiful today and I'm told the wallpaper in the dinning room is original.

Bluford Arris Kemp 1916 - 1959
Bluford Arris Kemp was named for his two grandfathers. Henry Bluford Kemp and

First marriages for both. Their much awaited child, Mary Ethel Kemp, was born
March 23, 1948. They named her for her grandmothers, Mary William Smith Tyler
and Nellie Ethel McCall Kemp. Mary Smith Tyler's (Mrs. John Pittman Tyler) family

Kemp Chevrolet Gallatin - 1934.
First cousins, Tom T. Kemp and Carcie Allen Kemp, in front of their Chevrolet
dealership in Gallatin, Tennessee. Tom is on the left, unidentified lady in
middle and Carcie on the right. This picture was dated June 15, 1934.
Tom's father was Peyton Taylor Kemp and Carcie's father was Henry Bluford Kemp.
Both sons of Asa Kemp and Polly Williams Kemp. When Carcie was around eight years
of age his parents died of TB and Peyton & Belle Kemp took Carcie to raise.
Another uncle and aunt, John and Virgie Kemp, took Carcie's brother Lester
to raise. Both Tom and Carcie had been successful businessmen in Carthage
before moving their families to Gallatin. Tom with a hardware store and Carcie
with a Chevrolet dealership.
Tom's daughter Majorie told me that her brother was promised a horse in
order to make the move to Gallatin easier for him. Her brother being Otis
Kemp, a noted Tennessee Walking Horse showman all his adult life. She
said he brought her many of his blue ribbons and asked her to make a quilt
for him using these ribbons, which she did. Otis joined his father in the
car dealership business and later owned his own Oldsmobile dealership in
Gallatin for many years. In his later years Otis served as one of Gallatin's
mayors. Otis married Opal Allen of Hartsville and they had two daughters.
