James Harvey Dillehay and wife Dossie Brooks Dillehay
James 'Jim' Dillehay was born Jan. 10, 1870 and died Dec. 23, 1935. He was the son of Dickson and Mary
E. Craighead Dillehay . Dickson is the son of Thomas and Nancy Goodner Dillehay. Thomas is the son of
Edmond and Joannah Asher Dillehay. Jim's great granddaddy Edmond was the first Dillehay to settle in
Defeated Creek. Dossie Brooks Dillehay was born July 28, 1872 and died March 31, 1911. She was the
daughter of Jackson and Martha Phillips Brooks. Jim and Dossie were the parents of 10 children. After
Dossie's death Jim married her sister Frances. Frances died in 1931. Jim then married Willie Mundy.

Jim made his living on the farm. He also helped cut some of the first telephone poles used in the community. He
signed his name with an X but could figure large sums in his head. The home they raised their family in still stands
in the Brooks Hollow. Just down the road a piece Jim, Dossie and Frances are buried in the Lankford Cemetery.

This picture was taken in 1902. Born later to Jim and Dossie
were twin girls Ora and Lora and youngest son Oval.

Willie married Lethie Anderson daughter of John and Elnora Nesbitt Anderson.

James Harvey and Willie Mundy Dillehay
This picture was taken in the yard of his last home now currently owned by Mr. James T. Dillehay.
House was built by his brother in law Seymour Brooks. He lived all his life in Defeated Creek.
After being widowed twice he and Willie Mundy married in their golden years.
He was a member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church.
