A Good Man Gone

Noah DAMAN, one of the oldest residents of Memphis, died last week at the residence of his son-in-law, Judge L.H. ESTES.  Mr. DAMAN moved to Memphis in the early 50’s.  He was widely known in Memphis, and especially among the Methodists, for he was a life-long member of that church.  He was 84  years old.

CROWLEY, Annie – Complains of Insult (1870)

Miss Annie CROWLY complained before ‘Squire NORTON yesterday that Andrew BROWN, a negro, had grossly insulted her.  ‘Squire NORTON, after hearing the case, committed BROWN to the County Jail to await trial.

At the residence of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Gen. Wm. H. CARROLL, on the morning of the 5th inst., by Rev. Dr. WHITE, Mr. Robert C. MALONE and Miss Annie CARROLL, both of this city.

Belmont Cemetery

This cemetery is located on Millington Rd just west of Hwy 51 behind the Northridge/Woodhaven Cemetery, about 300 yards down a dirt road. You need to go to BFI disposal plant to gain access through the locked gate that leads to cemetery

This cemetery is in very poor condition but is still active. Some stones are broken and there is evidence of unmarked graves. 

Bedford Plantation Cemetery

Located in Collierville off of Poplar in the Bedford Plantation Subdivision at the Germantown/Collierville city limits, north on Bedford Ln just west of Houston Levee Rd. The cemetery is surrounded by a wrought iron fence in a park like setting.
