Southwest Point Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (Kingston, TN)
(from the archived Roots of Roane Web site)
This information was maintained by Pat Roberts McDonald “until the chapter gets its own separate site.”
Confirmed to the National Board of Management on April 18, 1998, the chapter was named from the Fort Southwest Point. This fort was a military post established in the territory of the United States south of the River Ohio by General John Sevier under command of Captain John McClelland to protect the settlers and travelers.

Project: First Families of Roane (1797-1811)
Fort Southwest Point DAR is sponsoring a tribute to all families who were living in what is now known as Roane County, between the years of 1797-1811. This was the period in Roane County’s history when Fort Southwest Point was a working fort. Roane County was formed in 1801. Preserving history is one of the main objectives of the DAR. Help us to preserve the history of Roane County and the history of those ancestors who founded Roane County. Persons successfully proving their heritage to an ancestor living in Roane County between the years of 1797-1811 will be presented a nice Certificate (suitable for framing) and have their name and their ancestor’s name engraved on a brass marker to be displayed on a plaque at Fort Southwest Point.
The name of the applicant plus the ancestor will be placed on a large board. The names will be in a brass metal plate that will be screwed to the board.
